Al-Anon Chairperson's Message

Welcome Al-Anon, Alateen and AA Guests!

On behalf of our Planning Committees and many volunteers, I want to welcome you to the 44th Annual San Fernando Valley AA Convention! I am proud to be participating alongside my friends in Al-Anon and Alateen.

I came to Al-Anon in 1999 because I just wanted to feel better. I got involved with SFVAAC my very first year (in 2000), when it was still held in Burbank. Because my job has me traveling around Southern California, I have been fortunate to be able to attend meetings all over the place. I like the variety and unique “feel” of different meetings.

This weekend, take in the variety of events we have prepared for you. We have a fantastic skit on Friday night, and this year we are introducing something new and fun for those of you who are young at heart, when we put a new spin on our annual Saturday workshop. But before that, please be sure to hear our Luncheon Speaker while enjoying an exquisite afternoon meal!

During the weekend, please come up to me, say hi, and introduce yourself. I usually remember your faces, but may forget a name. (Does that ever happen to you?!) But I hope to meet all of you over the weekend and make new friends while catching up with old friends.

And before you leave on Sunday, remember… “Just stay – it’s the easier, softer way!”

Thank you so much, Alcoholics Anonymous, for allowing the Al-Anon Family Groups to participate in your always rewarding convention of recovery.

With Love in Friendship and Service,

Nicki B.
